Email SupportFrequently Asked Questions
Yes. You pay once and own it forever. There is no monthly fee, no yearly renewal, and no features that rotate behind a paywall. Every future update is included.
No account, no login, no internet required. Smart Runner works entirely on your device. Your training data is stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework and never transmitted anywhere.
Smart Runner uses the VDOT model developed by exercise physiologist Jack Daniels. You enter a recent race result (any distance, 5K through marathon) and the app calculates your VDOT score, then derives scientifically valid training pace zones for every workout type.
These are physiological metrics that measure your fitness (CTL), fatigue (ATL), and form (TSB, or Training Stress Balance). You do not need to understand the math. The app shows you a simple form indicator and adjusts your plan accordingly. The science runs in the background.
Yes. The companion Watch app shows live pace, heart rate, distance, and HR zone during your run. You can start and stop workouts from your wrist, and data syncs back to your iPhone automatically when the workout ends.
Yes. On first launch, Smart Runner reads your recent workout history from Apple Health and uses it to seed your training load and fitness baseline.
The free trial lets you explore the app, review your training plan, and see your fitness metrics. The one-time purchase unlocks the full adaptive plan engine, all analytics, and Apple Watch sync.
Go to Settings and use the VDOT Override to manually adjust your fitness score up or down. The plan recalculates immediately. If something else looks off, email support with details.
Smart Runner is optimized for marathon and half-marathon training, and supports 5K and 10K targets as well. It generates appropriate volume and intensity for any race distance.
Open Smart Runner, go to Settings, and tap "Restore Purchase." Your App Store purchase is tied to your Apple ID, not to the app install. If the problem persists, email support with your Apple ID receipt.
